 The Nursery Decoration

There is certainly a lot of planning and preparation to do when you're having a baby. With so many things to get in order before your due date it's a good idea to prepare early. A good place to start is to have a nursery decoration checklist. This way you can stay calm and relaxed and knowing that you'll get everything done before the baby arrives. I've put together a few things that you'll want to keep in mind as you are getting the baby's nursery ready, from the baby bedding, to the nursery decoration, and more.

Get any painting or wallpapering done early. You want to make sure that this is done at least a month or so before you expect your baby. This way you can take time to air out the room. Painting the room can lead to fumes that could be harmful to your baby, but if you get the room ready early and aired out, there should be no problems at all. Using paint that is odourless and fume free can be a great help if you leave the decorating until the last minute.

If you know the sex of you baby, it will be easier to choose your colour scheme, theme and baby bedding early. If you order your baby bedding online you'll need time for it to arrive at your home, no doubt you will be excited and want to get the crib all set up, then all you have to do is put your baby in the crib when you arrive home from the hospital. Of course, there are a few safety tips to remember when it comes to the baby bedding. For the first year make sure you keep pillows and comforters out of the crib, a light weight quilt and soft sheets are all you will need to keep baby warm and comfortable. Comforters and duvets are far too heavy for a tiny baby and could cause suffocation.

Remember too, to have extra baby bedding on hand. Your baby is a little spitting and peeing machine for the first few months of his life. You can guarantee that the bedding is going to get soiled pretty often. For this reason you should aim to have several sets of baby bedding on hand.
Have fun picking out the accessories for the nursery. If you have your baby bedding already, you'll probably have a theme. There are so many beautiful accessories for the nursery decoration from wall stickers, borders, wall decor, nursery pictures and lamps, the list is endless. Above all, enjoy choosing your baby nursery decorations, this is definitely a fun time.

Set up a nappy changing area. You can purchase a nappy changing table or if you're short on space, a cot top changer, make sure that all the supplies are on hand, if you use a cot top changer add a cot tidy too, this will keep all the lotions, wipes and baby necessities close at hand so you won't have to leave your baby to find something you need. It will certainly help to be ready, since you'll be changing plenty of nappies when your baby finally arrives.
Remember, NEVER leave your baby alone on a changer or changing table, accidents can so easily happen..
Have a place to sit in your baby nursery, try to have a place where you can sit down to breastfeed, cuddle your baby or simply have some alone time, a comfortable armchair or rocker would be ideal.

These are just a few of the important things you need to do for baby nursery decoration. If you follow this checklist, you'll have a beautiful nursery that looks great and one that is practically designed for the comfort of you and your baby.

Enjoy this very special time.

Stunning Nursery Furniture Fit For Your Little King Or Queen.
Many parents design their nursery based on the gender of their expected child, while others wait for life's ultimate surprise. Not knowing whether you're having a boy or girl can make decorating a challenge, but designing a unisex nursery is also great fun. The decision to wait creates an intimacy between the parents and an array of opportunities for your special nursery, so how would you decorate a very special baby nursery?   That got us thinking........
The answer came with the incredibly beautiful Notte Fatata collection by designer Savio Firmino.

The newest line from Firmino was inspired by the birth of his grandchild, complete with nurseries that seamlessly transition into boy and girl’s rooms. A line made up of everything divine, from wardrobes to small beds, from bedside tables to changing tables, from large chests to toy chests that bring utter mind-blowing quality and elegance to any nursery.  And we love that these gorgeous pieces are gender neutral for those parents not wanting to know baby’s gender but wanting a luxury nursery nonetheless.

What is extraordinary about the Notte Fatata line–other than the sheer beauty of it is that it is made with the same attention to detail and craftsmanship as all the pieces that have been manufactured since 1941. This family run three-generation business uses all of the ancient furniture making techniques that were used for centuries- making antique quality pieces for the lords and queens of the world. We think this makes it perfect for your little lord or queen.

The crib’s upholstered detail can easily be removed for cleaning and eventually can act as your child’s headboard. The small bed has an elegant headboard. A conversion kit will turn our crib into a lifetime bed following the natural course of your children’s lives. The chest of drawers has also been designed with children in mind. In fact, you can easily attach a soft changing area to it and when you don’t need it, it transforms back into a comfortable chest of drawers. Unlike most changing pads the pad on this changer is made of treated leather that is hand crafted and smooth to the touch. A favourite piece of course is the rocking nursery chair for nursing or story- telling time with parents and grandparents alike.

Never before has this kind of heirloom quality furniture been available for the nursery and through our travels we have encountered a jewel, a furniture maker based in ancient woodworking techniques and quality that is quite simply jaw dropping.

Wrapping Paper Wall Art | Project Nursery

PN Reader Sara shares a simple DIY for your kids room all the way from Israel and tempts us by saying, “I bet you have everything you need to do this simple project, so what are you waiting for?…” And she’s right, we do!

Share a little about yourself.
I am a creative stay at home/work at home designer mom, raising five children in the gorgeous rolling hills of Northern Israel. I have a new blog www.creativejewishmom.com in which I share all the joys of making creativity a priority in everyday life!

What is the name of your project?
Almost Instant DIY Artwork (for the nursery)
What inspired you to create this project?
I found this really cute wrapping paper at the grocery store and thought it would be great as framed art! Lucky for me I had an old frame just waiting for a project!
Please share with us step by step, detailed instructions.
The wooden frame was a cast-off from someone else and contained a very uninteresting poster. I opened up the frame from the back, and removed the poster which had been mounted to the bristol board (it was old enough that the poster peeled right off). I then cut a piece of wrapping paper about 2 inches smaller all around than the size of the frame opening, attached the wrapping paper to the bristol board with a few pieces of double-sided tape (a glue stick would work too), reinserted it into the frame and voila!
An even easier version of this project would be to use a frame with a pre-cut matte, such that you don’t have to worry about an exact cutting job — the matte covers the edges! Or simply cut a piece of wrapping paper to fit within the entire size of the frame with no border. And if you don’t have any frames on hand, so simply and neatly wrap a piece of your cute wrapping paper around a rectangle or square of cardboard, attach a ribbon and hang.

A simple but effective nursery design project
